It took me three kids until I even heard about lactation cookies. A local favorite, Flour Child Bakery in Grand Ledge (Michigan) makes them each week and I fell in love the very first bite.
I love supporting this awesome bakery, but I also loved (and needed) these lactation cookies so much that I had to find a way to make them myself for the sake of our bank account.
I really struggled with my milk supply the whole time I was nursing Baby Mo.

These cookies are loaded with oats, flaxseed, and brewers yeast – all said to help increase your milk supply while nursing. They definitely worked for me, and I love making these for any of my nursing friends.
These are oatmeal chocolate chip – the oats are a key ingredient, but you can certainly swap out the chocolate chips for raisins, cherries, m&ms, nuts, whatever your nursing body is craving!
The recipe calls for brewers yeast, I use this kind. I have made this recipe without it before and they turned out just as good. It is however, a key ingredient to increasing milk supply.
*** Yes these are completely okay for kids and husbands to eat, BUT – if you need to tell them they are “Special Mommy Cookies” then GO FOR IT.
